Company History

Dec. 1979 Current President Kiyosumi Shibuya left Furukawa MFG. Co., Ltd., to start his own business.
NS Brain was established and began baby knitwear manufacturing/sales.
Founded at 852-1 Nomura, Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture.
March1981 Incorporated as NS Brain Co., Ltd. with a capital of 6 million yen.
Dec. 1988 Capital increased to 10 million yen.
July 1990 Built a new company building at 1286 Kushita, Daimon-machi, Imizu, Toyama Prefecture, and relocated.
Company-owned property (Premises: Approx. 2,700 square meters / Company building: 2,050 square meters)
Feb. 1991 Capital increased to 20.3 million yen.
July 1992 Began engaging in microcapsule embedding research with the cooperation of the Japan Small Business Corporation, Toyama Industrial Technology Center, Research Institute of Engineering for Quality Life, etc.
Feb. 1995 Capital increased to 34.5 million yen.
March 1995 Succeeded in developing microcapsule embedding technology, obtained patent rights, and began using it for business.
Nov. 1996 Awarded Grand Prize by Toyama Prefecture Businesses Grand Prize Toyama for microcapsule embedding technology.
June 1998 Acquired the fabric processing and setting plant, Interface Ltd., together with its 12 employees, and incorporated the company.
August 1999 Developed a new 100% cotton fabric. (Material brand: Soft aura)
June 2001 Started direct trade with Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. (direct purchasing of acrylic cotton).
Developed a new 14-gauge smooth fabric (70% acrylic & 30% cotton).
Nov. 2001 Developed a special modified model for a 14-gauge smooth knitting machine through a project funded by Toyama Prefecture.
Feb. 2004 Obtained a patent for microcapsule embedding technology for fabric.

March 2004 While pursuing R&D of nanotechnology processing with Prof. Ogawa of Kagawa University, initiated R&D of embedding technology upon being provided with a nanotechnology processing solvent.
April 2005 Designated as small business operation model company of Toyama by Toyama Prefecture (The ninth designated company).
May 2005 Upon receiving guidance on nanotechnology embedding technology from Du Pont America, succeeded in developing the ultimate heat setting machine and in processing the technology. (250,000 products/year)
June 2005 Designated by Toyama New Industry Organization as recipient of funding from the small business self-reliance support program (The 383rd designated company).
June 2005 Managerial innovation plan approved.
Sept. 2005 Toyama small business technology development challenge project
July 2007 Participated in the new product/technology innovation program (government-industry-academia cooperative project) together with the University of Toyama to develop new materials.
March 2008 Local industry resource utilization project plan designated for funding by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
July 2008 Recognized by METI as one of the “300 Most Vibrant Japanese Monozukuri (Manufacturing) Small and Medium Enterprises”. Received a certificate of appreciation and a plaque from the Minister of METI.
Oct. 2009 Became the supplier of Tohoku Fukushi University Golf Club uniforms (nanotechnology-processed vests and sweaters).
Oct. 2009 Developed a 14-gauge flat double knitting machine with funding from the trial production support program (creative product development support program for small businesses).
Oct. 2010 Held a booth for the first time at the JFW Japan Creation Exhibition (Venue: Tokyo Big Sight).
Nov. 2011 Held a booth for the first time at the Hokuriku Textiles in Shanghai international exhibition,.
Authorized as the processor of SEK antibacterial treatment (Orange) (For general use: textile products for home and food business use)
May 2012 Authorized as the processor of SEK antibacterial treatment (Red) (For special use: textile products used in hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare facilities).
May 2012 Authorized as the processor of deodorizing treatment (for elimination/alleviation of odors from sweat, aging and ammonia).
June 2012 Provided the sweater and vest (nanotechnology-processed products) worn by a pro golfer and graduate of Tohoku Fukushi University at his first British Open.
